Our Programs

Whether your student is just taking their first steps into the wide world of Ballet, or preparing for auditions to enter professional companies, our world famous faculty and renowned program will help them get there.

Petite Program

The attention spans of toddlers and early elementary school-aged students are short. However, their communication and emotional and physical skills are developing rapidly at this age. As such, it is the most critical time for good training. Conservatory Ballet Uses a blend of teaching pedagogy combining Montessori, Piaget, and Emilio Reggio with a Vaganova-based ballet developed by the founder, Julia Redick, and her team.

This may be their first classroom experience or their first time away from Mom. They will learn classroom expectations, how to follow directions, and how to share and take turns. They will also learn basic essential physical coordination through movements such as running, jumping, and turning.

We keep these benchmarks in mind as we explore the wondrous world of imagination that goes hand in hand with young minds in dance. As this is the most crucial time for development, we only employ specially trained individuals for these levels.

While ballet is composed of many steps woven together to create a beautiful tapestry of athleticism and art, when sheared down and simplified, all ballet stems from the basics: a combination of a plie, a tendu, a jump, and a turn. In the Petite and future Etoiles levels, we ensure that all students, regardless of age, are well grounded in these elements.

Future Etoiles Program

Future Etoiles is the level students enter after students have graduated from the first two levels of Basic and or Petite. Students reach this level once they have a good understanding of the classroom environment, respect the basic etiquette of the ballet environment, have an introductory foundation of basic ballet techniques, and understand the beginnings of proper alignment. Once students reach this level, they are well on their way to having the foundational knowledge from which progress and artistry can flourish.

Proper ballet etiquette gets enforced, and students are expected to be fully engaged, committed, and focused in class. Students get introduced to simple combinations and additional strengthening and conditioning exercises. In preparation, dancers will begin preparatory education in classical music and ballets, as well as language and cultural awareness.

Dancers are required to enroll in 2-3 classes a week. Some of the classes might be combined with the Petites and/or Juene dancers, as corps de ballet dances often use large groups of people varying in age. Practicing in groups of different ages gives the students opportunities to grow and learn from each other while practicing grit, patience, and leadership.

3E Society Program

For most American ballet methodologies, Pointe shoes and pointe work are given in full-length hour-and-a-half classes when the student is between the ages of 11-14. Over the past 50 years, we've realized that giving pointe shoes at a later age is an uncomfortable time in the lifecycle of a young lady. We have found that pointe work can be done safely in smaller, bite-size pieces over a more extended period once a dancer has reached necessary maturity levels, physically and mentally. We are extremely cautious about allowing dancers to go on pointe. Dancers must be heavily evaluated and cannot start before their body is ready to handle the challenge.

3E introduces pointe work earlier, at a more graduated pace. The program focuses on building the strength and knowledge that future dance combinations use on pointe. Training dancers in a gradual and technique-based manner has proven more effective and safer in the long run. Before being able to wear their pointe shoes, 3E students must be able to take care of themselves and others. They prove this by being able to wash and care for uniforms, maintain hair and appearance, show pre-professional character, assist in leadership activities, and sew their pointe shoes (some help may be required for the first sewing experience).

Adult Program

Whether you're a long-time veteran of ballet or just a beginner trying on their slippers for the first time, this class will be the perfect experience for you. This class will focus on alignment, the foundation of technique, and the quality of your movement. We recommend that students understand basic ballet vocabulary; however, teachers can go over the basics at slower speeds for those who need it.

Students get placed at the appropriate level based on prior experience and skill set; we do not determine levels solely by age. Students may spend more than one year at a designated level as the difficulty increases. The advancement of students to the next level is at the discretion of the instructor and studio owner. Newcomers to the studio must undergo an evaluation to find the correct class fit for them.

Our rigorous and comprehensive program is designed to provide a classical repertory education through the Vaganova method of dance education. Students will engage in a concentrated course of study, exploring advanced techniques and the foundations of classical ballet. Our staff have unparalleled expertise and are dedicated to the development of every student.

Demi Etoiles and Repertoire des Etoiles

The Demi Etoiles dancers get presented with a more challenging vocabulary. At this level, pointe work becomes a difficult challenge, and dancers must become more comfortable with regular routines/combinations on pointe. They should have solid alignment, sharp technique, and a natural flow and understanding of music. Dancers should be able to maintain their turnout and have strong ankles and feet during preparation for a more rigorous repertoire. Steps will increase in difficulty, and turns, jumps, and combinations will grow in length and complexity. These dancers should be thoroughly focused in class and fully aware of proper ballet etiquette. Attendance is critical for promotion to pointe work and earning featured roles in performances. Dancers are required to enroll in 3-5 classes a week.

The Repertoire des Etoiles program includes a pointe level class and is offered only to students who receive an invitation from the instructor. Dancers in this level are experienced in pointe and are refined ballet students. These students must take the recommended number of classes and have excellent attendance. Steps will increase in difficulty, and combinations will grow in length and complexity. Technique and artistry are advanced at this level. The curriculum moves quickly, so these classes are recommended only for focused and dedicated ballet dancers. Dancers are required to enroll and attend 4-6 classes a week.

These classes are sometimes combined with Demi or Juene dancers because the corps de ballet repertoire requires larger groups of dancers to work together. Staggering the more advanced dancers in with some of our less advanced students gives more opportunities for leadership growth and a deeper understanding of the breadth of ballet.
